VITAL STATISTICS (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1957.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 2 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952), hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Vital Statistics (Amendment) Regulations, 1957.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1st day of January, 1958.

3. Article 3 of the Vital Statistics Regulations, 1954 ( S.I. No. 280 of 1954 ) is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution of " year " for " date " in paragraph (7) and

(b) the insertion in paragraph (8) of " by present or any previous husband " after " mother ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations provide that, in future, persons giving statistical information in relation to a birth under the Vital Statistics Regulations, 1954, will be required to give information under the heading " year of marriage of mother " instead of " date of marriage of mother " and under the heading " number of previous children of mother by her present or any previous husband ", instead of " number of previous children of mother ".
