CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTAS NOS. 13 AND 45) (AMENDMENT) (MOQUETTE AND PLUSH) ORDER, 1953.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, and of every and any other power them in this behalf enabling, hereby order as follows :

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quotas Nos. 13 and 45) (Amendment) (Moquette and Plush) Order, 1953.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of July, 1953.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The exemption set out at reference number 4 in the second column of the Second Schedule to the Control of Imports (Quotas Nos. 1 to 32) (Amendment) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 402 of 1939 ), shall, as inserted by Article 3 of that Order in the Control of Imports (Quota No. 13) Order, 1935 ( S. R. & O. No. 59 of 1935 ), as amended, not extend to moquette or plush, being moquette or plush of a weight exceeding eight ounces but not exceeding twenty-four ounces per square yard.

4. The exemptions set out in subparagraphs (f) and (g) of paragraph 4 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 45) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1949 ), shall not extend to moquette or plush, being moquette or plush of a weight exceeding eight ounces but not exceeding twenty-four ounces per square yard.

5. The Control of Imports (Quota No. 13) Order, 1935 ( S. R. & O. No. 59 of 1935 ), as amended, is hereby further amended by the addition at the end of Part I of the Schedule of the following word and paragraph :

" or

(iii) moquette or plush, being moquette or plush which contains not less than forty per cent. by weight of artificial silk and which exceeds eight ounces but does not exceed twenty-four ounces in weight per square yard."
