NATIONAL CULTURAL INSTITUTIONS ACT 1997 (DELEGATION OF FUNCTIONS) ORDER 2006

I, John O'Donoghue, T.D., Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 51(1) of the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (No. 11 of 1997) and the Arts and Culture (Transfer of Departmental Administration and Ministerial Functions) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 302 of 2002 ) (as adapted by the Tourism, Sport and Recreation (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order 2002 ( S.I. No. 309 of 2002 )), hereby order as follows:

1.     This Order may be cited as the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (Delegation of Functions) Order 2006.

2.     The functions conferred on the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism by section 50 of the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (No. 11 of 1997) in relation to archaeological objects (being a class of museum heritage object) are delegated to the Board of the National Museum of Ireland.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order delegates to the Board of the National Museum of Ireland the functions set out in Section 50 of the National Cultural Institutions Act 1997 (No. 11 of 1997) regarding the issue of export licences in relation to archaeological objects (being a class of museum heritage object).
