THE CURRAGH (CLOSURE) ORDER 2006.

I, Michael McDowell, Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2(1) of the Prisons Act 1933 (No. 51 of 1933) as applied by section 4 of the Prisons Act 1970 (No. 11 of 1970), hereby order as follows:

1.         This Order may be cited as the Curragh (Closure) Order 2006

2.         It is directed that the place of detention provided under section 2 of the Prisons Act 1970 and situated at the Curragh in the County of Kildare be closed on and from 1 January, 2007.
