SEA-FISHERIES PROTECTION AUTHORITY (ESTABLISHMENT DAY) ORDER 2006

I, Noel Dempsey, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 40 of the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 (No. 8 of 2006), hereby order as follows:

1.        This Order may be cited as the Sea-Fisheries Protection Authority (Establishment Day) Order 2006.

2.        The day appointed as the establishment day for the purposes of Chapter 5 of Part 2 of the Sea-Fisheries and Maritime Jurisdiction Act 2006 (No. 8 of 2006) is 1 January 2007.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order, made by the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, appoints 1 January 2007 as the establishment day of the independent statutory SEA-FISHERIES PROTECTION AUTHORITY.

The Authority will enforce sea-fisheries law generally and food safety law relating to fish or fishery products.
