Civil Registration (Births and Deaths) (Fees) Regulations 2005

I, Mary Harney, Minister for Health and Children in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 67 of the Civil Registration Act 2004 (No. 3 of 2004) hereby make the following Regulations:-

1.         These Regulations may be cited as the Civil Registration (Births and Deaths (Fees) Regulations 2005.

2.         The Regulations shall come into operation on 5th December 2005.

3.         For the purposes of these regulations, a “register” is a register maintained under section 13 of the Civil Registration Act 2004 (No. 3 of 2004).

4.         The amount of the fee for each certified copy of an entry in a register of births, a register of stillbirths or a register of deaths shall be €8.

5.         The amount of the fee for each uncertified copy of an entry in a register of births or register of deaths shall be €4.

6.         The amount of the fee for the authentication of a certified copy of an entry in a register of births, a register of stillbirths or a register of deaths shall be €10.

7.         The amount of the fee payable for each particular search under section 61 (1) (a of the Civil Registration Act 2004 shall be €2.

8.         The amount of the fee payable for each general search under section 61 (1) (a of the Civil Registration Act 2004 shall be €20.

9.         For the purposes of regulations 7 and 8, a “particular search” shall mean a search over any period not exceeding 5 years for any particular entry in a register and a “general search” shall mean a search, not exceeding seven consecutive hours, over any period exceeding 5 years.

10.       The amount of the fee payable for each search under section 61 (2) (a) of the Civil Registration Act 2004 shall be €2.

11.       The amount of the fee payable for the registration, or alteration, of a forename of a child in the register of births shall be €5.

12.       The amount of the fee payable for the re-registration of the birth of a legitimated person shall be nil.
