Amalgamation of Marriage Registrars' Districts (Number 1) Order, 2005

I, Kieran Feely, an tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 8 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby order as follows:-

1.   This order may be cited as the Amalgamation of Marriage Registrars' Districts (Number 1) Order, 2005.

2.   For the purposes of Section 57 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, as amended by Section 8 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, the District of Loughrea is hereby amalgamated with the District of Galway.

3.   The district formed as a result of Article 2 shall be referred to as the District of Galway and shall comprise the County of Galway.

4.   This order shall come into operation on the 1^st day of July, 2005.

Explanatory Note

The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Registrars' Districts in the functional area of the Western Area, so as to reduce the number of Districts in that area.
