Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17 and Section 18) (Donegal, Cork & Waterford) Order, 2004

An tArd-Chláraitheoir, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 17 and Section 18 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, hereby orders as follows:

1.   This Order may be cited as the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863 (Section 17 and Section 18) (Donegal, Cork & Waterford) Order, 2004.

2.   The existing Registrars Districts of Malin, Moville, Clonmany, Carndonagh and Buncrana shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Inishowen.

3.   The existing Registrars Districts of Killybegs, Dunkineely, Tantallon, Donegal and Stranorlar shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Stranorlar.

4.   The existing Registrars Districts of Ballyshannon and Pettigo shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Ballyshannon.

5.   The existing Registrars Districts of Cullen, Millstreet and Mallow shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Mallow.

6.   The existing Registrars Districts of Waterford and Tramore shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Waterford.

7.   The existing Registrars Districts of Kilkenny and Thomastown shall be amalgamated and shall together form one Registrar's District to be known as the Registrar's District of Kilkenny.

8.   This Order shall come into operation on the 6th day of December 2004.

The effect of this Order is to amalgamate certain Registrars’ Districts in the functional areas of the North Western Health Board, the Southern Health Board and the South Eastern Health Board so as to reduce the number of Districts in that area.
