S.I. No. 315/2001 - Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Restriction on Movement of Certain Animals) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order, 2001


I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 , 5 , 27 (a) and 28 (a) of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), hereby order as follows:

1.       This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Restriction on Movement of Certain Animals) (No. 2) (Amendment) Order, 2001 and shall come into operation on 2nd July, 2001.

2.       The Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Restriction on Movement of Certain Animals) (No. 2) Order, 2001 is amended, in Article 3 by the insertion after paragraph (3) of the following —

“(4)     Paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Article and paragraph (3) of Article 4 shall not apply to the movement of an ovine animal -

(a)      to a slaughterhouse, or

(b)      from one part of a holding to another part of the same holding.

(5)     With effect from 9th July, 2001, paragraphs (1) and (2) of this Article and paragraph (3) of Article 4 shall not apply to the movement of a breeding ewe, a ram or a member of the porcine species to a mart.”.
