S.I. No. 239/2001 - Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-And-Mouth Disease) (Removal of Certain Import Restrictions) Order, 2001


The Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), hereby order as follows —

1.   This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Removal of Certain Import Restrictions) Order, 2001.

1.   The Foot and Mouth Disease (Hay, Straw and Peat Moss Litter) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 49 of 2001 ) (as amended by the Foot and Mouth Disease (Hay, Straw and Peat Moss Litter) (Amendment) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 86 of 2001 )), is amended, in Article 3, by the insertion after paragraph (a) of the following —

“(b) hay, straw or peat moss litter of Northern Ireland origin imported across the land frontier with Northern Ireland.”.

3.   The Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Import of Vehicles, Machinery and other Equipment) Order, 2001 (No. 51 of 2001) shall not apply to vehicles, machinery or other equipment brought into the State across the land frontier with Northern Ireland where the vehicle is registered in Northern Ireland.

This Order removes the restriction on the import of

(a)  agricultural vehicles registered in Northern Ireland and

(b)  equipment, hay straw or peat moss litter of Northern Ireland origin

imported into the State across the land frontier with Northern Ireland.
