S.I. No. 233/2001 - Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-And-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports From The Netherlands) (Amendment) Order, 2001


I, Joe Walsh, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966) (as adapted by the Agriculture and Food (Alteration of Name of Minister and Title of Department) Order, 1999 ( S.I. No. 307 of 1999 )), hereby order as follows —

1.       This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the Netherlands) (Amendment) Order, 2001.

2.       The Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the Netherlands) Order, 2001 ( S.I. No. 210 of 2001 ) is amended

(a) in Article 2(1), by the substitution for the definition of “restricted areas” of the following definition —

“‘restricted areas’ means the surveillance zone Oene-Kootwijkerbroek, including the vaccination zone Noord Veluwe, in the provinces of Gelderland, Utrecht and Overijssel.”, and

(b) in Article 8(2), by the insertion after “20 February, 2001” of —

“or frozen bovine semen or embryos produced after that date that comply with Article 12 of the Commission Decision”.

This Order amends ‘The Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (Foot-and-Mouth Disease) (Restriction on Imports from the Netherlands) Order, 2001’ ( S.I. No. 210 of 2001 ), to take account of the new Commission Decision regarding the Netherlands.
