S.I. No. 197/2000 - District Court Districts and Areas (Amendment) and Variation of Days (Portlaoise) Order, 2000.


THE COURTS SERVICE, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), as amended by section 43 of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act, 1961 (No. 39 of 1961), by section 16 of the Courts Act, 1971 (No. 36 of 1971), and by section 29 of the Courts Service Act, 1998 (No. 8 of 1998) and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby orders as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Districts and Areas (Amendment) and Variation of Days (Portlaoise) Order, 2000.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 4th day of July, 2000.

2. In this Order—

“Order of 1998” means the District Court Districts and Areas and (Amendment) and Variation of Days (No. 18) Order, 1998 ( S.I. No. 410 of 1998 );

“Principal Order” means the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ).

3. The First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution for the matter in column (4) at reference number 138 (as amended by Article 3(c) of the Order of 1998) of the following:

“Portlaoise—

First, Second and Third Friday and Fourth Monday of each month at 10.30 a.m.”.

4. The Second Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by—

(a) The substitution for the matter in column (2) at reference number 122 of the following:

“County of Laoighis”

(b) the substitution for the matter in column (4) at reference number 122 (as amended by Article 4(c) of the Order of 1998) of the following:

“Portlaoise—

First, Second and Third Friday and Fourth Monday of each month at 10.30 a.m.”.

5. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and is not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated.
