EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (PESTICIDE RESIDUES) (FOODSTUFFS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1996.

I, Ivan Yates, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 96/33/EC of 21 May, 19961 , hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1996 and shall come into operation on the 20th day of December 1996.

(2) The European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations, 1988 to 1996 and these Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations, 1988 to 1996 and shall be construed together as one.

2. In these Regulations —

"the Principal Regulations" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 217 of 1988 );

"the Regulations of 1993" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1993 );

"the Regulations of 1995" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1995 ( S.I. No. 165 of 1995 );

"the Regulations of 1996" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1996 ).

3. The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended:

(a) by the addition of the following text to the text of Annex II Part A (as amended by the Regulations of 1993, 1995 and 1996):

Explanatory Note

These Regulations amend existing Regulations by extending the list of pesticides for which residue maximum levels have been set.
