EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (PESTICIDE RESIDUES) (FOODSTUFFS OF ANIMAL ORIGIN) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1995.

I, IVAN YATES, Minister for Agriculture, Food and Forestry, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 3 of the European Communities Act 1972 , (No. 27 of 1972) and for the purpose of giving effect to Council Directive 86/363/EEC of 24 July, 1986⁽¹⁾ as amended by Council Directive 93/57/EEC of 29 June, 1993 ⁽²⁾ and Council Directive 94/29/EC of 23 June 1994⁽³⁾, hereby make the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment), Regulations, 1995, and shall come into operation on 1st July, 1995.

(2) The European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations 1988 and 1993, and these Regulations, may be cited as the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations 1988 to 1995, and shall be construed as one.

2. In these Regulations—

"the Principal Regulations" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) Regulations, 1988 ( S.I. No. 217 of 1988 ).

"the 1993 Regulations" means the European Communities (Pesticide Residues) (Foodstuffs of Animal Origin) (Amendment) Regulations, 1993 ( S.I. No. 317 of 1993 ).

3. The Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by:

( a ) the insertion in Annex II Part A (as amended by the 1993 Regulations) after entry No. 14, of the following text:

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations amend existing ones by setting maximum pesticide residue limits for additional active substances in Annex II.
