URBAN RENEWAL ACT, 1986 (DESIGNATED AREAS) (COBH) ORDER, 1995.

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for the Environment by section 6 (2) of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (No. 19 of 1986) which powers are delegated to me by the Environment (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1995 ( S.I. No. 3 of 1995 ), I, LIZ McMANUS, Minister of State at the Department of the Environment, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 (Designated Areas) (Cobh) Order, 1995.

2. Each of the areas described in Part II of the Schedule to this Order is hereby declared to be a designated area for the purposes of the Urban Renewal Act, 1986 .

SCHEDULE

PART I

In this Schedule—

"thoroughfare" includes any hall, high water mark, hill, lane, place, road, row, slipway, street, terrace, wall and way;

a reference to a line drawn along any thoroughfare is a reference to a line drawn along the centre of that thoroughfare;

a reference to a projection of any thoroughfare is a reference to a projection of a line drawn along the centre of that thoroughfare;

a reference to the point where any thoroughfare or projection of any thoroughfare intersects or joins any other thoroughfare or projection of a thoroughfare is a reference to the point where a line drawn along the centre of one thoroughfare, or in the case of a projection of a thoroughfare, along the projection, would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other thoroughfare or, in the case of another projection of a thoroughfare, along the other projection;

a reference to a point where any thoroughfare is intersected by the projection of a boundary is a reference to the point where a line drawn along the centre of such thoroughfare would be intersected by the projection of such boundary.

PART II

Description of Designated Areas

White Point Area

That part of the urban district of Cobh bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where the southern boundary of the railway line is intersected by the northern projection of the eastern boundary of No. 6 Railway Cottages, then continuing in a southerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the southerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects the unnamed road immediately to the south of Railway Cottages, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along the said road and the south-easterly projection thereof to the point where it intersects the high water mark of Cork Harbour, then continuing initially in a north-easterly direction along the said high water mark for a distance of 260 metres, then continuing in a northerly direction in a straight undefined line to the point where it intersects the southern boundary of the railway track, then continuing in a westerly direction along the said southern boundary to the first-mentioned point.

Spy Hill Area

That part of the urban district of Cobh bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Spy Hill joins Westbourne Place, then continuing in a south-easterly direction along Westbourne Place to the point where it is intersected by the southerly projection of the eastern boundary of the vocational school site (known locally as Admiralty House), then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the northerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Spy Hill, then continuing initially in a south-westerly direction along Spy Hill to the first-mentioned point.

West Beach Area

That part of the urban district of Cobh bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where East Beach is intersected by the northerly projection of the eastern boundary of the slipway to the south of No. 1 East Beach, then continuing in a southerly direction along the said projection and boundary to the point where it joins the high water mark of Cork Harbour, then continuing initially in a southerly direction along the said high water mark to the point where it is joined by the eastern boundary of the unnamed pier immediately to the east of Kennedy Pier, then continuing initially in a southerly direction along the eastern, southern and western boundaries of the said unnamed pier to the point where it joins the southern boundary of the site in use as a car park for Supervalu store, then continuing initially in a westerly direction along the southern and western boundaries of the said car park to the point where it joins the northern boundary of the said car park, then continuing in a northerly direction along the northern projection of the last-mentioned western boundary to the point where it intersects West Beach, then continuing in an easterly direction along West Beach and East Beach to the first-mentioned point.

Harbour Row Area

That part of the urban district of Cobh bounded by a line commencing at the point (hereafter in this description referred to as the first-mentioned point) where Harbour Hill joins Church Street, then continuing in an easterly direction along Church Street and Rose Hill Terrace to the point where it is intersected by the northerly projection of the western end of the unnamed laneway to the rere of Nos. 1-8 Merview, then continuing initially in a southerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and laneway, to the point where it joins the steps (known locally as Preacher's Steps), then continuing in an easterly direction along the said steps to the point where it is intersected by the southern projection of the eastern boundary of No. 8 Merview, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary and the northerly projection thereof to the point where it intersects Harbour View, then continuing in an easterly direction along Harbour View to the point where it joins Harbour Row, then continuing in a southerly direction in a straight undefined line to the point where it intersects the high water mark of Cork Harbour, then continuing initially in a westerly direction along the said high water mark to the point where it is intersected by the southerly projection of the eastern boundary of the Town Hall, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned projection and boundary to the point where it joins the northern boundary of the Town Hall, then continuing in a north-westerly direction in a straight undefined line to the point where it joins the southern end of the western boundary of No. 6 East Beach, then continuing initially in a northerly direction along the western and northern boundaries of No. 6 East Beach to the point where it joins the western boundary of No. 7 East Beach, then continuing in a northerly direction along the last-mentioned boundary and northern projection thereof to the point where it intersects Harbour Hill, then continuing in a north-westerly direction along Harbour Hill to the first-mentioned point.
