DISTRICT COURT AREAS (VARIATION OF DAYS AND HOURS) (No. 21) ORDER, 1988.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Areas (Variation of Days and Hours) (No. 21) Order, 1988.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 4th day of January, 1989.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ).

3. Article 3 of the District Court Areas (Variation of Days) Order, 1965 ( S.I. No. 85 of 1965 ). is hereby revoked.

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 1 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.",

(b) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 120 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.",

(c) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 126 of "Third Thursday in February, April, June, October and December at 11 a.m. and Third Thursday in September at 2.30 p.m." for "Second Friday in each month at 11 a.m.",

(d) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 128 of "Third Thursday in January, March, May, July and November at 11 a.m. and Third Thursday in September at 10.30 a.m." for "Third Thursday in each month at 11 a.m.",

(e) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 133 of "11 a.m." for "11.30 a.m.",

(f) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 135 of "Fourth Monday in each month" for "Third Tuesday in each month",

(g) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 138 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.", and

(h) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 236 of "Second Monday in each month at 11 a.m." for "Second Wednesday in each month at 11.30 a.m.".

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 1 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.",

(b) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 104 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.",

(c) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 110 of "Third Thursday in February, April, June, October and December at 11 a.m. and Third Thursday in September at 2.30 p.m." for "Second Friday in each month at 11 a.m.",

(d) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 112 of "Third Thursday in January, March, May, July and November at 11 a.m. and Third Thursday in September at 10.30 a.m." for "Third Thursday in each month at 11 a.m.",

(e) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 117 of "11 a.m." for "11.30 a.m.",

(f) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 119 of "Fourth Monday in each month" for "Third Tuesday in each month",

(g) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 122 of "10.30 a.m." for "11 a.m.", and

(h) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 203 of "Second Monday in each month at 11 a.m." for "Second Wednesday in each month at 11.30 a.m.".

6. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for a reduction in and variation of the District Court sittings arrangements in Ballyragget and Castlecomer. It also provides for a variation in the days of sittings of the District Court in Mountmellick and Templemore and for earlier commencement times for sittings of the District Court in Carlow, Athy, Portlaoise, Urlingford and Templemore
