SOCIAL WELFARE (TREATMENT BENEFIT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1987.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 3 and 110 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1987 and shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1987.

(2) The Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 to 1985 and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 to 1987.

2. Article 10 (2) of the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) Regulations, 1954 ( S.I. No. 156 of 1954 ) is hereby amended by the substitution:

(i) in paragraph (a) (as inserted by the Social Welfare (Treatment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 43 of 1960 )) for "twenty-six employment contributions" of "39 employment contributions" and for "one hundred and fifty-six employment contributions" of "208 employment contributions" in each place where it occurs, and

(ii) in paragraph (b) for "twenty-six employment contributions" of "39 employment contributions".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for an increase in the number of weeks of insurable employment required to satisfy the contribution conditions for the receipt of treatment benefit from 26 to 39 and from 156 to 208 where applicable.
