DISTRICT COURT DISTRICTS AND AREAS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1978.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 (1) of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Districts and Areas (Amendment) Order, 1978.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1978.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ).

3. The District Court Area of Drumlish mentioned at reference number 160 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order is hereby abolished.

4. The District Court Area of Granard is hereby varied by the deletion from the district electoral divisions mentioned in column (5) at reference number 141 in the Second Schedule to the Principal Order of the district electoral division of Drumgort.

5. The District Court Area of Longford is hereby varied by the addition to the district electoral divisions mentioned in column (5) at reference number 162 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order of the district electoral divisions of Ballinamuck East, Ballinamuck West, Drumgort, Drumlish and Killoe and by the addition to the district electoral divisions mentioned in column (5) at reference number 142 in the Second Schedule to the Principal Order of the district electoral division of Drumgort.

6. The Principal Order is hereby amended by the substitution in columns (3) and (4) at reference number 163 in the First Schedule thereto for "Meathas Truim" of "Edgeworthstown".

7. The First Schedule to the District Court (Districts) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 6 of 1961 ), is hereby amended by—

( a ) the deletion in column (3) at reference number 9 of "Drumlish",

and

( b ) the substitution in column (3) at reference number 9 for "Meathas Truim" of "Edgeworthstown".

8. The Schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ) is hereby amended by—

( a ) the deletion in column (4) at reference number 9 of "Drumlish" and "160", and

( b ) the substitution in column (4) at reference number 9 for "Meathas Truim" of "Edgeworthstown".

9. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and is not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for: (1) the abolition of the District Court Area of Drumlish and the incorporation of that area in the District Court Area of Longford, (2) the transfer of the District Electoral Division of Drumgort from the Granard District Court Area to the Longford District Court Area for the purpose of transacting Civil Business and (3) the changing of the name of the District Court Area and place of sitting from Meathas Truim to Edgeworthstown.
