DISTRICT COURT DISTRICTS AND AREAS (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1973.

I, PATRICK COONEY, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 26 (as amended by section 16 of the Courts Act, 1971 (No. 36 of 1971)) of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 (No. 32 of 1953), and after consultation with the President of the District Court, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the District Court Districts and Areas (Amendment) Order, 1973.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1974.

2. In this Order "the Principal Order" means the District Court (Areas) Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 5 of 1961 ).

3. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Ceanannus Mór shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 190 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order and in column (4) at reference number 162 in the Second Schedule to the Principal Order, be the first Thursday in each month at 11 a.m. and the third Monday in January, March, May, July, September and November at 11 a.m.

4. The days and hours for holding the District Court in the district court area of Dunshaughlin shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 191 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order and in column (4) at reference number 163 in the Second Schedule to the Principal Order, be the second Thursday in each month at 11 a.m. and the third Monday in February, April, June, October and December at 11 a.m.

5. The days and hours for holding the district court in the District Court area of Kilcock shall, in lieu of the days and hours specified in column (4) at reference number 123 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order and at reference number 107 in the Second Schedule to the Principal Order, be the third Wednesday in each month at 11 a.m. and the fourth Friday in January, March, May, July, September and November at 11 a.m.

6. The district court area of Slane, mentioned at reference number 194 in the First Schedule to the Principal Order, is hereby abolished.

7. The Principal Order is hereby varied by—

( a ) the substitution in columns (3) and (4) at reference number 188 in the First Schedule thereto, and in columns (3) and (4) at reference number 161 in the Second Schedule thereto, for "An Uaimh" of "Navan", and

( b ) the substitution for the matter in column (5) at reference number 188 in the First Schedule thereto of the following:

"The area comprising the District Electoral Divisions of An Uaimh Rural, An Uaimh Urban, Ardbraccan, Ardmuchlan, Castletown, Cruicetown, Donaghpatrick, Grangegeeth, Kentstown, Martry, Mellifont, Nobber, Painestown, Rathkenny, Slane, Stackallan and Tara in the county of Meath."

8. The District Court Districts Order, 1961 ( S.I. No. 6 of 1961 ), is hereby varied by—

( a ) the deletion in column 3 at reference number 10 in the First Schedule thereto of "Slane",

( b ) the substitution in column 3 at reference number 10 in the First Schedule thereto for "An Uaimh" of "Navan", and

( c ) the substitution in column 3 at reference number 10 in the Second Schedule thereto for "An Uaimh" of "Navan".

9. The Schedule to the District Court Areas (Amendment) Order, 1970 ( S.I. No. 161 of 1970 ), is hereby varied by—

( a ) the deletion in column (4) at reference number 10 of "Slane", and "194", and

( b ) the substitution in columns (3) and (4) at reference number 10 for "An Uaimh" of "Navan".

10. Business transacted in the District Court which is initiated and is not completed before the commencement of this Order shall be continued and completed as if this Order had been in force at the time at which such business had been initiated.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for: (1) additional sittings of the District Court in Ceanannus Mór, Dunshaughlin and Kilcock, (2) the abolition of the District Court Area of Slane and the incorporation of that area in the District Court Area of Navan, and (3) the changing of the name of the District Court Area and Place of sitting from An Uaimh to Navan.
