ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF GALWAY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1968 ), the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 126 of 1970 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 to 1972.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 14th day of September, 1972.

3. In these Regulations, the "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1968 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the deletion at reference 2 (a) of "The Ballybaan Road" and "The Circular Road",

(ii) by the deletion of the matter at references 2 (c) and 2 (d),

(iii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 2 (1) of

"(l) The Rahoon Road between the Borough boundary and its junction with the road connecting Rahoon Road with the Seamus Quirke Road.",

(iv) by the substitution for the matter at reference 2 (m) of

"(m) Cloran's (or Grave's) Road between its junction with the Rahoon Road and a point 150 yards north of its junction with the Barna-Taylor's Hill Road.",

(v) by the addition of the following matter at reference 2—

"(o) The road connecting the Rahoon Road with the Seamus Quirke Road.

(p) The Seamus Quirke Road between a point 40 yards north of its junction with the Rahoon Road and a point 150 yards west of its junction with the Moycullen Road.

(q) The Circular Road, excluding that portion of the road between its junction with the Moycullen Road and a point 220 yards south-west of that junction."

5. The Second Schedule to the Principle Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the substitution at reference 6 (c) of "65" for "50",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 16 (b) of "Tuam" for "Galway-Shrule",

(iii) by the addition of the following references:—

"32. The following roads at An Cheathrú Rua:—

(a) Bóthar Cuilleann.

(b) The Doire an Fhéidh-Caladh Thaidhg road between a point 300 yards north-east of its junction with Bóthar a' Chillín and a point 50 yards west of its junction with Bóthar na Rinne.

(c) Bóthar na Rinne for a distance of 250 yards from its junction with the Doire an Fhéidh-Caladh Thaidhg road.

(d) Bóthair Tuismeáin for a distance of 190 yards from its junction with the Doire an Fhéidh-Caladh Thaidhg road.

(e) Bóthar a' Chillín for a distance of 360 yards from its junction with the Doire an Fhéidh-Caiadh Thaidhg road.

(f) Bóthar Doire Fhearta for a distance of 275 yards from its junction with the Doire an Fhéidh-Caiadh Thaidhg road.

33. The following roads at Moylough:—

(a) Market Square.

(b) The Galway-Roscommon road between a point 420 yards west of its junction with the Kilkerrin Road and a point 510 yards east of the said junction.

(c) The Kilkerrin Road for a distance of 160 yards from its junction with the Galway-Roscommon road.

(d) The Carnacregg or Menlough Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Galway-Roscommon road.",

(iv) by the substitution of the following matter for the matter at reference 13:—

" 13. The following roads adjacent to the Borough of Galway:—

(a) The Ballybaan Road between the borough boun dary and its junction with the Monivea Road.

(b) The Clybaun Road for a distance of 540 yards north of its junction with the Barna-Taylor's Hill road.

(c) The Monivea Road between the borough boundary and a point 300 yards east of its junction with the Ballybaan Road.

(d) The Knocknacarragh Road for a distance of 180 yards from the borough boundary.",

(v) by the substitution at reference 24 (b) of "400 yards southeast of its northernmost junction with the Maree Road" for "230 yards south of the said junction",

(vi) by the addition of the following matter at reference 24— "The Maree Road for a distance of 750 yards from its northernmost junction with the Galway-Limerick road."

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the addition of the following matter at reference 1—

"(e) The Deerpark Road between its junction with the Athenry Road and a point 10 yards south-east of its junction with the Kilclooney Road.

(f) The Athenry Road between a point 250 yards west of its junction with the Ahascragh Road and a point 15 yards south-west of its junction with the Deerpark Road.",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 2 (f) of "185" for "165",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 7 (d) of "25 yards west of its junction with the Trusky Road at Barna" for "120 yards south-west of its junction with the Knocknacarragh Road",

(iv) by the addition of the following matter at reference 7—

"(f) The Claregalway Road between a point 1,760 yards south-west of the boundary of the borough of Galway and a point 300 yards south-west of the said boundary.

(g) The Moycullen Road between a point 1,400 yards south-east of the boundary of the borough of Galway and a point 1,600 yards north-west of its junction with the Circular Road.

(h) Cloran's (or Grave's) Road between a point 150 yards north of its junction with the Barna-Taylor's Hill Road and its junction with the Rahoon Road.

(i) The Rahoon Road between its junction with the road connecting it with the Seamus Quirke Road and a point 70 yards north-west of its junction with Cloran's (or Grave's) Road.

(j) The road connecting the Rahoon Road with the Seamus Quirke Road.

(k) The Seamus Quirke Road between a point 40 yards north of its junction with the Rahoon Road and a point 150 yards west of its junction with the Moycullen Road.",

(v) by the addition of the following matter at reference 10—

"(c) The Woodford Road between a point 210 yards northwest of the town boundary and a point 290 yards south-east of the said boundary.",

(vi) by the deletion at reference 10 (b) of "a point 600 yards south-east of",

(vii) by the substitution at reference 14 (c) of "690" for "90",

(viii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 13,

(ix) by the addition of the following references:—

"17. The following road at Lackagh:—

The Turloughmore-Roscommon road between a point 1,065 yards south-west of its junction with the Carraghy Road and a point 1,370 yards south-west of the said junction.

18. The following roads at Kilcolgan:—

(a) The Galway-Ennis Road between a point 70 yards north of its junction with the Tyrone Road and a point 50 yards south of its junction with the Killeeneen Road.

(b) The Tyrone Road for a distance of 70 yards from its junction with the Galway-Ennis road.

(c) The Killeely Road for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Galway-Ennis road.

(d) The Kinvara Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Galway-Ennis road.

(e) The Killeeneen Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with Galway-Ennis road

19. The following road at Barna-Spiddal:—

The Galway-Costelloe road between a point 2,200 yards east of the eastern abutment of Furbo Bridge and a point 1,300 yards west of the western abutment of that bridge.",

(x) by the substitution at reference 8 (c) of "430" for "10".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1968 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Galway.
