		ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF GALWAY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1970.
		The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 , 45 and 46 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), amended as regards the said section 46 by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:— 1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970.
		(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 110 of 1968 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 and 1970. 2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1970. 3. The Second Schedule to the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968 is hereby amended by the substitution for the matter at reference 28 (b) of "The Galway-Costelloe road between the eastern terminal point of the promenade and a point 25 yards west of the junction of the said road with Pier Road". 4. Forty miles per hour shall be the speed limit for mechanically propelled vehicles on the roads specified in the Schedule to these Regulations during the months of July and August in each year.
		SCHEDULE
		Roads in respect of which a special speed limit of 40 miles per hour is prescribed during the months of July and August in each year.
		The following roads at Spiddal:—
		(a) The Galway-Costelloe road between a point 125 yards east of its junction with the road leading to the village of Ballintleva at Killough and the eastern terminal point of the promenade at Spiddal.
		(b) The Galway-Costelloe road between a point 25 yards west of its junction with the Pier Road and a point 75 yards east of its junction with the road leading south to Loughaunbeg."

		EXPLANATORY NOTE.
		These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Galway) Regulations, 1968, by imposing a speed limit of 40 m.p.h on two sections of the Galway-Costelloe road in the vicinity of Spiddal during the months of July and August each year and by extending the 30 m.p.h. speed limit in force in Spiddal.
