SOCIAL WELFARE (OLD AGE (CONTRIBUTORY) PENSION) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1970.

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and section 28A of the said Act (inserted therein by section 10 of the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1960 (No. 25 of 1960) ), hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) (Amendment) Regulations, 1970.

(2) The Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) Regulations, 1960 to 1969 and these Regulations may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) Regulations, 1960 to 1970.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1970.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 274 of 1960 ) as inserted by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 238 of 1969 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Old Age (Contributory) Pension) Regulations 1960 to 1969, which provide for payment of reduced rates of old age (contributory) pension where the contribution conditions are partially satisfied, for the purpose of increasing these reduced rates to 97/-, 94/-, 91/- and 88/- from 79/6d, 76/6d, 73/6d and 70/6d, respectively with effect as from 2nd October, 1970.
