CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 53) (MISCELLANEOUS BRUSHES) ORDER, 1966.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by Section 3 of the Control of Imports Act, 1934 (No. 12 of 1934), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 53) (Miscellaneous Brushes) Order, 1966.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. Subject to the exceptions and qualifications mentioned in paragraph 4 of this Order, the importation on or after the 1st day of July, 1966, of brushes, brooms and mops which, in the opinion of the Revenue Commissioners, are completely or substantially manufactured and of a value of less than thirty shillings per dozen is hereby prohibited.

4. The prohibition effected by paragraph 3 of this Order shall not extend or apply to—

(a) articles imported under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 to 1964,

(b) articles to which this Order is precluded from applying by section 4 of the Control of Imports (Amendment) Act, 1937 (No. 8 of 1937),

(c) any brush which is a single feather quill containing hair or fibre,

(d) any apparatus adapted to be used for the purpose of household cleaning by means of suction, or

(e) articles imported for a purpose set out in the Second Schedule to the Control of Imports (Quotas Nos. 1 to 32) (Amendment) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 402 of 1939 ), or in circumstances set out in that Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Instrument prohibits the importation, save under licence, of brushes, brooms and mops which are completely or substantially manufactured and of a value of less than 30/- per dozen.
