S.I. No. 25 of 1956.

CONTROL OF IMPORTS (REVOCATION OF QUOTAS Nos. 26 AND 27 AND AMENDMENT OF QUOTA No. 28) ORDER, 1956.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Revocation of Quotas Nos. 26 and 27 and Amendment of Quota No. 28) Order, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3.—(1) Paragraph 5 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 28) Order, 1936 ( S. R. & O. No. 16 of 1936 ), is hereby amended by—

(i) the deletion of subparagraphs (a) and (b), and

(ii) the insertion after subparagraph (e) (inserted by the Control of Imports (Quota No. 28) (Amendment) Order, 1936 ( S. R. & O. No. 180 of 1936 ) ) of the following :—

" or

(f) any apparatus adapted to be used for the purpose of household cleaning by means of suction."

(2) The prohibition on the importation of brushes, brooms and mops effected by paragraph 4 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 28) Order, 1936, shall extend and apply to the articles which were referred to in subparagraphs (a) and (b) of paragraph 5 of that Order.

4. The exemption set out in the second column of the second Schedule to the Control of Imports (Quotas Nos. 1 to 32) (Amendment) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 402 of 1939 ), at reference number 11 and inserted by Article 3 of that Order in the Control of Imports (Quota No. 28) Order, 1936, shall not apply or extend to the Articles which were referred to in subparagraph (b) of paragraph 5 of the Control of Imports (Quota No. 28) Order, 1936.

5. The Control of Imports (Quota No. 26) Order, 1936 ( S. R. & O. No. 14 of 1936 ), and the Control of Imports (Quota No. 27) Order, 1936 ( S. R. & O. No. 15 of 1936 ), are hereby revoked.

6. This Order shall come into operation on the 29th day of February, 1956.
