S.I. No. 260/2026 - International Protection Act 2026 (Section 118(5)(a)(ii)) (Places of Detention) Regulations 2026

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 16th June, 2026.

I, JIM O’CALLAGHAN, Minister for Justice, Home Affairs and Migration, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 118(5)(a) of the International Protection Act 2026 (No. 9 of 2026), hereby make the following regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the International Protection Act 2026 (Section 118(5)(a)(ii)) (Places of Detention) Regulations 2026.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on 12 June 2026.

2. In these Regulations, “Act of 2026” means the International Protection Act 2026 (No. 9 of 2026).

3. Each place specified in Schedule 1 is prescribed for the purposes of Part 5 of the Act of 2026 as an appropriate place of detention of male persons.

4. Each place specified in Schedule 2 is prescribed for the purposes of Part 5 of the Act of 2026 as an appropriate place of detention of female persons.

5. The International Protection Act 2015 (Places of Detention) Regulations 2016 ( S.I. No. 666 of 2016 ) are revoked.
