S.I. No. 32/2023 - Electoral Reform Act 2022 (Commencement) Order 2023

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 10th February, 2023.

I, DARRAGH O’BRIEN, Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (5) of the Electoral Reform Act 2022 (No. 30 of 2022), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Electoral Reform Act 2022 (Commencement) Order 2023.

2. The 9th day of February 2023 is appointed as the day on which the following provisions of the Electoral Reform Act 2022 (No. 30 of 2022) shall come into operation:

(a) paragraphs (h) to (k) of subsection (1) of section 4 of Part 1;

(b) subsections (3) and (4) of section 4 of Part 1;

(c) Part 2 (insofar as it is not already in operation);

(d) section 98 of Chapter 1 of Part 3;

(e) Part 9.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

In exercise of the powers conferred on the Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage by section 1 (5) of the Electoral Reform Act 2022 (No. 30 of 2022), this Order appoints 9 February 2023 as the day on which certain provisions in Parts 1, 2, 3 and 9 of that Act come into operation.
