S.I. No. 510/2019 - Water Services Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2019

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 18th October, 2019.

I, EOGHAN MURPHY, Minister for Housing, Planning, and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (3) of the Water Services Act 2017 (No. 29 of 2017), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Water Services Act 2017 (Commencement) Order 2019.

2. The 18th day of October 2019 is appointed as the day on which section 61 of the Water Services Act 2017 (No. 29 of 2017) shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation)

This Order brings into operation section 61 of the Water Services Act 2017 which amends schedule 4 to the Valuation Act 2000 by deleting section 21 (of said schedule) which refers to the entire network used for the provision of water services by Irish Water or a person who holds a water services licence. The effect of the amendment is to make the water services network rateable.
