(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation.)

This order brings into effect, from 26 October 2018, certain provisions of the Road Traffic (Amendment) Act 2018 . The principal effect of the provisions in question is that drivers who currently receive 3 penalty points for certain drink driving offences will in future receive a 3-month driving disqualification instead. The provisions commenced will also make a number of corrections to legislative cross-references.
