Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

I, PHIL HOGAN, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 24 (1) of the Local Government Reform Act 2014 (No. 1 of 2014), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Reform Act 2014 (Transfer Date) Order 2014.

2. The 1st day of June 2014 is appointed as the transfer date for the purposes of the Local Government Reform Act 2014 (No. 1 of 2014).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This order provides that 1 June 2014 is the transfer date for the purposes of the dissolution of town councils under the Local Government Reform Act 2014 . On that date, all town councils are dissolved and cease to exist and the local authorities in whose areas the town councils were situated are established as their successors.
