Amendment of section 24 of Petty Sessions (Ireland) Act 1851. |
26.— Section 24 of the Petty Sessions (Ireland) Act 1851 is amended by the insertion of the following paragraph after paragraph 2: | |
“2A. (a) A recognisance to which paragraph 2 applies may be taken by— | ||
(i) any judge of the District Court, | ||
(ii) any District Court clerk, | ||
(iii) a peace commissioner designated for that purpose by order of the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform, | ||
(iv) the governor of a prison, or | ||
(v) a prison officer designated for that purpose by the governor of a prison. | ||
(b) in this paragraph ‘prison’ has the same meaning as it has in the Prisons Act 2007 .”. |
