LOCAL GOVERNMENT (ROADS FUNCTIONS) ACT 2007 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER 2007

Notice of the making of this Statutory Instrument was published in

“Iris Oifigiúil” of 11th December, 2007.

The Minister for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4(2) of the Local Government (Roads Functions) Act 2007 (No. 38 of 2007) hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government (Roads Functions) Act 2007 (Commencement) Order 2007.

2. The day appointed as the day on which the Local Government (Roads Functions) Act 2007 (No. 38 of 2007) comes into operation is 1 January 2008.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Instrument and does not purport to be a legal interpretation).

This Order provides for the commencement of the Local Government (Roads Functions) Act 2007 on 1 January 2008. The Act provides for technical amendment of certain legislative provisions to facilitate the transfer of functions relating to Non-National Roads and the National Vehicle Driver File to the Minister for Transport from the Minster for the Environment, Heritage and Local Government.
