S.I. No. 484/2001 - National Standards Authority of Ireland Act, 1996 (Section 32) Regulations, 2001


I, Mary Harney, Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 32 (2) of the National Standards Authority of Ireland Act, 1996 (No. 28 of 1996) (as adapted by the Enterprise and Employment (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 305 of 1997 )) hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the National Standards Authority of Ireland Act, 1996 (Section 32) Regulations, 2001.

2. Each local authority (within the meaning of the Local Government Act, 2001 (No. 37 of 2001)) is specified as a person who may prosecute summarily an offence under section 28 (2) of the National Standards Authority of Ireland Act, 1996 (No. 28 of 1996), that consists of a contravention of the Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Petroleum Coke and other Solid Fuels) Order, 1991 ( S.I. No. 257 of 1991 ).

Explanatory Note

The purpose of this Instrument is to enable Local Authorities to summarily prosecute an offence in respect of the sale, manufacture and assembly for domestic use of petroleum coke and other solid fuels, which is in contravention of the conditions and composition as set out in Statutory Instrument No. 257 of 1991 .
