S.I. No. 221/1999 - Local Government Act, 1998 (Commencement) Order, 1999.

The Minister for the Environment and Local Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 15 (4) of the Local Government Act, 1998 , hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act, 1998 (Commencement) Order, 1999.

2. Section 11 of the Local Government Act, 1998 , shall come into operation on the date of the making of this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order commences Section 11 of the Local Government Act, 1998 which amends Section 2 of the Local Authorities (Officers and Employees) Act, 1926 and provides for the range of posts to be filled by the Local Appointments Commissioners to be specified in an Order to be made by the Minister.
