S.I. No. 215/1999 - European Communities (Knackery) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.
I, JOE WALSH, Minister for Agriculture and Food, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972) hereby make the following Regulations:— | ||||||||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Knackery) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999. | ||||||||
(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the 21st day of July 1999. | ||||||||
(3) The European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 ( S.I. No. 396 of 1996 ) and these Regulations may be cited together as the European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 and 1999. | ||||||||
2. Regulation 2 (1) of the European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996 is hereby amended by the substitution for paragraph (b) in the definition of “knackery” of the following paragraph: | ||||||||
“(b) for the cutting up of dead animals, for sale as food for packs of hounds, or” | ||||||||

These Regulations amend the European Communities (Knackery) Regulations, 1996, by restricting the sale of meat from knackeries to feed for packs of hounds. |
