S.I. No. 171/1999 - European Communities (Energy Labelling of Household Dishwashers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999.
I, MARY O'ROURKE, Minister for Public Enterprise, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1992 (No. 27 of 1972), and for the purposes of giving effect to Commission Directive 1999/9/EC of 26 February 19991 , hereby make the following Regulations: | ||||||||
1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (Energy Labelling of Household Dishwashers) (Amendment) Regulations, 1999. | ||||||||
2. The European Communities (Energy Labelling of Household Dishwashers) Regulations, 1998 ( S.I. No. 210 of 1998 ), are hereby amended- | ||||||||
(a) in Regulation 2 (1) (c), by the substitution for “1st day of July, 1998” of “1st day of March, 1999”. | ||||||||
(b) in Regulation 3 (2), by the substitution for “31st day of December, 1998” of “31st day of July, 1999”, and | ||||||||
(c) in Regulation 5 (3), by the substitution for “31st day of December, 1998” of “31 day of July, 1999”. | ||||||||

The purpose of the Regulation is to give legal effect to Commission Directive 1999/9/EC of 26 February 1999 and Council Directive 92/75/EEC of 22nd September, 1992 in so far as they relate to dishwashers. | ||||||||
The Regulations come into operation on 1 March, 1999 and amend European Communities (Energy Labelling of Household Dishwashers) Regulations, 1998 ( S.I. No.210 of 1998 ). The Regulations permit until 31 July, 1999 the placing on the market, for sale, hire or reward, of dishwashers which do not conform with the Directives. | ||||||||
