FISHERIES (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1997 (COMMENCEMENT) (NO. 2) ORDER, 1998.

I, MICHAEL WOODS, Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 1 (3) of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23 of 1997) (as adapted by the Marine (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1997 ( S.I. No. 301 of 1997 )), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (Commencement) (No. 2) Order, 1998.

2. The 16th day of June, 1998, is hereby fixed as the day on which sections 19, 22, 24 to 39, 68 and 70 of, and the Schedule to, the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23 of 1997), shall come into operation.

3. The provisions, other than sections 11 and 13, of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23 of 1997), shall come into operation on the 30th day of June, 1998, save in so far as already in operation prior to that date.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to commence with effect from:

16 June, 1998, sections 19 (renewal of licences), 68 (revocation or amendment of licences) and 70 (review of licences) of the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (No. 23) for the purpose of enabling him to make comprehensive Application Regulations under that Act, and 22, 24 to 39 and the Schedule to that Act, for the purpose of enabling him to proceed with the establishment, etc., of the Aquaculture Licences Appeals Board,and

— 30 June, 1998, the remainder of the Act which was not commenced by the Fisheries (Amendment) Act, 1997 (Commencement) Order, 1998 (S.I. No. 46), but excluding sections 11 and 13 the commencement of which will be considered later.
