VIDEO RECORDINGS ACT, 1989 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1994.

I, MÁIRE GEOGHEGAN-QUINN, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 35 of the Video Recordings Act, 1989 (No. 22 of 1989), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Video Recordings Act, 1989 (Commencement) Order, 1994.

2. The 12th day of May, 1994 is hereby fixed as the day on which the following provisions of the Video Recordings Act, 1989 (No. 22 of 1989) shall come into operation:

( a ) sections 3, 4, 7 (3), 10 (4) (a), 12 (other than subsections (1) (c), (2), (3) and (5)) and 14, and

( b ) in so far as they relate to video works supplied for the first time on or after the 1st day of September, 1994, sections 5, 6 and 11 (1) (a), subsections (2), (3) and (5) of section 12, and section 13.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the commencement of sections 3, 4, subsection (3) of section 7, subsection (4) (a) of section 10, subsections (1) (a), (1) (b) and (4) of section 12, section 14 and to a limited extent sections 5, 6, subsection (1) (a) of section 11 and subsections (2), (3) and (5) of section 12, and section 13 of the Video Recordings Act, 1989 .
