SOCIAL WELFARE (UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT) REGULATIONS, 1994.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 4 and 47 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 (No. 27 of 1993), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1 Short title.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1994.

2 Disqualification for Unemployment Benefit.

2. The amount prescribed for the purpose of subsection 4 (e) of section 47 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 shall be £15,000.

3 Revocation.

3. The Social Welfare (Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 189 of 1992 ) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 47 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1993 provides that a person under age 55 who receives money in respect of redundancy in excess of a prescribed amount may be disqualified for receiving unemployment benefit for a period of up to nine weeks. These regulations increase from £12,000 to £15,000 the amount prescribed for the purposes of this disqualification.
