SOCIAL WELFARE (MISCELLANEOUS SOCIAL INSURANCE PROVISIONS) (NO. 2) REGULATIONS, 1993

The Minister for Social Welfare in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981), section 19 of that Act (as amended by section 32 of the Social Welfare Act, 1992 (No. 5 of 1992)), section 30 of that Act (as amended by section 19 of the Social Welfare Act, 1991 ) (No. 7 of 1991)) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1 Citation.

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Social Insurance Provisions) (No. 2) Regulations, 1993.

2 Commencement.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation—

( a ) in so far as they relate to unemployment benefit, on the 22nd day of July, 1993, and

( b ) in so far as they relate to disability benefit on the 26th day of July, 1993.

3 Partial satisfaction of contribution conditions.

3. The Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Social Insurance Provisions) (No. 2) Regulations, 1992 ( S.I. No. 448 of 1992 ) are hereby amended by the substitution for the Schedule thereto of the following Schedule:

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Social Welfare Act, 1993 provided for increases in the maximum rates of social insurance payments arising from the 1993 Budget, with effect from the end of July, 1993.

These Regulations provide for increases in the reduced rates of Unemployment Benefit and Disability Benefit payable to people whose reckonable weekly earnings are below the prescribed amount, with effect from the end of July 1993.
