CHILD CARE ACT, 1991 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1992.

The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Section 1 (2) of the Child Care Act, 1991 (No. 17 of 1991), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Child Care Act, 1991 (Commencement) Order, 1992.

2. Sections 9 , 10 and 66 of the Child Care Act, 1991 shall come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1992.

3. Section 79 of, and the Schedule to, the Child Care Act, 1991 shall, for the purpose of effecting the repeal of section 65 (2) of the Health Act, 1953 (No. 26 of 1953), come into operation on the 1st day of June, 1992.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to bring Sections 9 , 10 , 66 and 79 of the Child Care Act, 1991 into operation.

Section 9 of the Act empowers the health boards to arrange for voluntary bodies and other persons to provide child care and family support services under the legislation on their behalf. Section 10 permits the boards to assist bodies and persons providing such services on their behalf.

Section 66 of the Act provides for a statutory superannuation scheme for the staffs of certain children's residential centres.

Section 79 provides for the repeal of certain statutory provisions relating to children.
