AIR POLLUTION ACT, 1987 (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1989.

The Minister for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 2 of the Air Pollution Act, 1987 (No. 6 of 1987), hereby orders as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Air Pollution Act, 1987 (Commencement) Order, 1989.

2. In this Order, "the Act" means the Air Pollution Act, 1987 .

3. On the 1st day of July, 1989—

( a ) section 53 of, and the Third Schedule to, the Act shall come into operation,

( b ) subsection (2) of section 9 of the Act shall come into operation for the purpose of repealing the European Communities (Sulphur Content of Gas Oil) Regulations, 1977 ( S.I. No. 361 of 1977 ) and the European Communities (Sulphur Content of Gas Oil) (Amendment) Regulations, 1985 ( S.I. No. 326 of 1985 ).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into operation on 1st July, 1989, the provisions of the Air Pollution Act, 1987 which relate to regulating fuels.
