MAJOR ACCIDENT HAZARDS (LOCAL COMPETENT AUTHORITIES) ORDER, 1986.

The Minister for Health in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Article 5 of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1986, ( S.I. No. 292 of 1986 ) hereby orders as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Major Accident Hazards (Local Competent Authorities) Order, 1986.

2. Each Health Board established under the Health Act, 1970 (No. 1 of 1970) shall be, in respect of its functional area under that Act, a local competent authority for the purpose of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1986 and Article 7 of Council Directive 82/501/EEC of 24th June, 1982.*

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order designates health boards as local competent authorities for their respective functional areas for the purpose of the European Communities (Major Accident Hazards of Certain Industrial Activities) Regulations, 1986 and Article 7 of Council Directive 82/501/EEC of 24th June, 1982* as from the 6th November, 1986.
