S.I. No. 384/1985 - Nature Reserve (Capel Island and Knockadoon Head) Recognition Order, 1985.


I, PADDY O'TOOLE, Minister for Fisheries and Forestry, after consultation with the Minister for Agriculture, the Minister for Communications and the Commissioners of Public Works in Ireland and the Cork county council, being satisfied by the person who is the occupier of the land specified in Article 2 of this Order, that the said land so specified includes an ecosystem described in paragraph (a) of section 15 (2) of the Wildlife Act, 1976 (No. 39 of 1976), and that the interest of the said person in or over the said land is such as to enable the person to establish and manage a nature reserve on the said land, and that the person can, in accordance with any conditions which the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry sees fit to impose, use or manage the said land so as to establish and maintain, or maintain as may be appropriate, a nature reserve on the said land do hereby, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 16 of the said Act, as adapted by the Fisheries (Alteration of Name of Department and Title of Minister) Order, 1978 ( S.I. No. 195 of 1978 ), and amended by section 5 of the Ministers and Secretaries (Amendment) Act, 1983 (No. 40 of 1983), order as follows:

1. (1) This Order shall be cited as the Nature Reserve (Capel Island and Knockadoon Head) Recognition Order, 1985,

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 16th day of December, 1985.

2. (1) The land specified in paragraph (2) of this Article is hereby recognised as a nature reserve.

(2) The land referred to in paragraph (1) of this Article is all that part of the land situate in and adjacent to the townlands of Capel Island and Knockadoon in the county of Cork and known as Capel Island and Knockadoon Head which are shown on the map contained in the Schedule to this Order and thereon delineated in red, other than that part of the said lands being an area of approximately 216 square feet which part is at the point lettered A in red on the said map.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order recognises part of the lands situate in and adjacent to the townlands of Capel Island and Knockadoon, Co. Cork as a nature reserve so that it can be managed in such a way as to ensure the conservation of the coastal heathland ecosystem which it constitutes.
