SOCIAL WELFARE (DISABILITY BENEFIT AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1981.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 , 19 and 30 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Disability Benefit and Unemployment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1981.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1953 to 1980, may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Disability Benefit and Unemployment Benefit) Regulations, 1953 to 1981.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 6th day of April, 1981.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the First Schedule to the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1953 ) as amended by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Disability and Unemployment Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 104 of 1980 ):—

REDUCED RATES OF DISABILITY BENEFIT AND UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Consequent on the increase in the maximum rates of disability and unemployment benefit effected by the Social Welfare (Amendment) Act, 1981 these Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1953 ) for the purpose of increasing the reduced rates of benefit payable where the contribution condition in respect of the governing contribution year is only partially satisfied.
