SOCIAL WELFARE (MODIFICATIONS OF INSURANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1981.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 3 and 7 of the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Act, 1981 (No. 1 of 1981), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1981.

(2) The Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1979 to 1980, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1979 to 1981.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 6th day of April, 1981.

3. The Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 87 of 1979 ) as amended by the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1980 ( S.I. No. 106 of 1980 ) are hereby amended by—

(1) the substitution in article 7 (2) (a) (i) of "0.6 per cent." for "0.55 per cent."

(2) the substitution in article 7 (2) (a) (ii) of "1.55 per cent. "for "1.4 per cent."

(3) the substitution in article 7 (3) (a) of "0.1 per cent." for "0.15 per cent."

(4) the substitution in article 7 (3) (b) of "0.1 per cent." for "0.15 per cent."

(5) the substitution in article 9 (2) (a) (i) of "2.85 per cent." for "2.75 per cent." and

(6) the substitution in article 9 (2) (a) (ii) of "7.15 per cent." for "6.6 per cent."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1979 ( S.I. No. 87 of 1979 ) modify the provisions of the Social Welfare Acts in their application to persons employed in certain employments, for example, certain foreign-going seamen, pensionable civil servants and other public servants, members of the Defence Forces, certain out-workers and certain ministers of religion, and provide for special rates of contributions in respect of the employments concerned. These Regulations specify the special rates of contributions payable from 6th April, 1981.
