ARBITRATION ACT, 1980 (PART IV) (COMMENCEMENT) ORDER, 1980.

I, GERARD COLLINS, Minister for Justice, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 3 of the Arbitration Act, 1980 (No. 7 of 1980), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Arbitration Act, 1980 (Part IV) (Commencement) Order, 1980.

2. The 1st day of January, 1981, is hereby appointed to be the day on which Part IV of the Arbitration Act, 1980 (No. 7 of 1980), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order brings into effect Part IV of the Arbitration Act, 1980 with effect from the 1st January 1981. The provisions in this Part of the Act deal with the enforcement of awards under the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States which was opened for signature in Washington on 18 March 1965.
