SOCIAL WELFARE (DESERTED WIFE'S ALLOWANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1978.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and sections 21 and 22 of the Social Welfare Act, 1970 (No. 12 of 1970), hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1978.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970 to 1976 may be cited collectively as the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970 to 1978.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of April, 1978.

3. Article 6 of the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970 ( S.I. No. 227 of 1970 ) is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Deserted Wife's Allowance) Regulations, 1970, by providing that a person applying for a deserted wife's allowance does not have to satisfy a residence test.
