INDUSTRIAL RESEARCH AND STANDARDS (SECTION 44) (CHILDREN'S TOYS) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1975.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 44 (1) of the Industrial Research and Standards Act, 1961 (No. 20 of 1961), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Industrial Research and Standards (Section 44) (Children's Toys) (Amendment) Order, 1975.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of March, 1975.

3. It shall be unlawful to manufacture, assemble or sell a child's toy unless it complies with Irish Standard 165:1968 as amended (being the standard specification for toxicity and cellulosic content of children's toys declared by the Institute for Industrial Research and Standards).

4. This Order shall apply only to a toy intended for sale to the public in the State.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of this Order is to prohibit the manufacture, assembly or sale of children's toys unless they comply with the prescribed requirements, as amended, in regard to toxicity and cellulosic content.
