MONEY ORDER AMENDMENT (No. 20) REGULATIONS, 1974.

I, CONOR CRUISE O'BRIEN, Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Post Office Act, 1908, and section 3 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 18 of 1969), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby make the following regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Money Order Amendment (No. 20) Regulations, 1974.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of October, 1974.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. Regulation 18 (1) of the Money Order Regulations, 1903, is hereby amended by the substitution of the following tables for Tables A, B, and C (inserted by Regulation 4 of the Money Order Amendment (No. 19) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 35 of 1971 )) which set out the poundage and fees payable in respect of money orders:

In respect of inland money orders:

for an amount not exceeding £50.00

20p

for an amount exceeding £50.00 but not exceeding £100.00

In respect of foreign money orders:

for an amount not exceeding £10.00

20p

for an amount exceeding £10.00 but not exceeding £20.00

35p

for an amount exceeding £20.00 but not exceeding £30.00

50p

for an amount exceeding £30.00 but not exceeding £40.00

65p

for an amount exceeding £40.00 but not exceeding £50.00

80p

C

Poundage

In respect of supplementary services:

for correcting or altering the name of the remitter or payee

5p

for stopping payment

10p

for the issue of a duplicate money order (including stopping payment of the original order)

20p

for the renewal of a void money order

20p

for an advice or certificate of payment of an inland money order

5p

for an advice or certificate of payment of a foreign money order

5p".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Warrant applies to the Money Order service and comes into operation on the 1st October, 1974. It authorises increases on charges on inland and foreign money orders and on other miscellaneous services.
