LOCAL ELECTIONS ACT, 1965 (SECTION 5) REGULATIONS, 1974. | ||
I, PETER BARRY, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 5 of the Local Elections Act, 1965 (No. 19 of 1965), hereby make the following regulations: 1. These Regulations may be cited as the Local Elections Act, 1965 (Section 5) Regulations, 1974. 2. (1) "second Thursday in the month of November" is hereby substituted for "second Thursday in the month of October" in sections 7 (8) and 10 (10), subsections (1) and (2) of section 14, subsections (1) and (2) of section 20 and sections 27 , 31 (3), 32 (1) and 33 (1) of the Harbours Act, 1946 (No. 9 of 1946). | ||
(2) "the period beginning on the 7th day of July and ending on the 30th day of September in an election year" is hereby substituted for "the period beginning on the 7th day of July and ending on the 31st day of August in an election year" in subsections (1) and (3) to (9) of section 10 of that Act. | ||
(3) "the period beginning on the 1st day of October and ending on the second Thursday in the month of November in an election year" is hereby substituted for "the period beginning on the 1st day of September and ending on the second Thursday in the month of October in an election year" in section 10 (2). | ||
(4) "the period beginning on the 1st day of October and ending on the second Thursday in the month of November in the election year" is hereby substituted for "the period beginning on the 1st day of September and ending on the second Thursday in the month of October in the election year" in section 11 (b). | ||

EXPLANATORY NOTE. | ||
The purpose of the Regulations is to vary the period in which elections to Harbour Authorities take place and to postpone to the second Thursday of November the Annual Meeting of each Harbour Authority. |
